Chocolate Toothpaste Tart

What exactly is chocolate toothpaste tart I hear you ask? Well, it’s a school pudding, but judging on people’s reactions when I’ve spoken about it, it was only ever served in a few select areas of the country… It’s an oddly named pudding, but most likely named because it reflects the consistency of the chocolate “paste” in the tart. It was one of my favourite desserts at school, albeit, not particularly healthy (no wonder they stopped serving it, along with the turkey twizzlers!)  Continue reading “Chocolate Toothpaste Tart”

Pudding? Yes please..

Merry Christmas!

The run up to Christmas always makes me want to bake more. Not really sure why, but I always find it easier to think of new designs and flavours around this time of year. I also have more willing tasters as well!

With that in mind, I present to you… the Christmas Pudding cupcake! Continue reading “Pudding? Yes please..”

Moose Cakes

My friend Kylie celebrated her birthday this past week, and she loves mooses (moose/meese?!) so I decided to make her some moose cupcakes. I got the idea from a book I got for my birthday, What’s New, Cupcake? which is brilliant for novelty cupcakes. The only downside is that it is VERY american – so a lot of the things they use, we can’t really buy over here for a good price and finding alternatives isn’t always easy. Chocoholic Heaven

Jak turned 22 yesterday, so we celebrated with presents, cake and cookies (more of which in another post). After eating most of the devil’s food cake I made at Christmas, he decided he wanted to same cake for his birthday. The whole cake is chocolate (bar the blue vanilla buttercream), so it was ideal for him! Continue reading “Chocoholic Heaven”

Oreo Cupcakes

I have been searching for a good Oreo cupcake recipe for a while now, and after coming across this one on another blog –A Cup Full Of Cake, I decided to give it a try. A lot of the cupcake bases for Oreo cupcakes tend to incorporate an Oreo within it somehow, but I liked this recipe as it could just focus on a plain chocolate sponge, with an Oreo buttercream frosting instead. I made a mixture of full sized and mini cupcakes – the full sized cupcakes have a mini Oreo stuck on top but I left those off the mini cupcakes (see picture above!) as I thought it might be a little too much for a mini cupcake. Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

choc chip cookiesI was feeling peckish and there weren’t any chocolatey snacks in the house (except Ferrero Rochers, but I think I’ve eaten too many of these in the past few months).. so after dinner, I made some chocolate chip cookies!

These aren’t the type of cookies which use a cutter, the mixture is much more sticky so using a cutter is near impossible. I prefer this type of cookie, I don’t need to worry about the shape and whether it’ll end up joining the other cookies on the sheet and become one massive cookie. Although.. the first time I made them, I didn’t realise how easily they’d expand and putting them so close to each other meant I ended up one 2 giant sheets of cookie.
