What exactly is chocolate toothpaste tart I hear you ask? Well, it’s a school pudding, but judging on people’s reactions when I’ve spoken about it, it was only ever served in a few select areas of the country… It’s an oddly named pudding, but most likely named because it reflects the consistency of the chocolate “paste” in the tart. The Great British Bake Off is back! Ok, so it’s been on for a few weeks now and I still need to catch up on the latest episode but I thought I might try out a few of the bakes they do on the show and share them on here (success or not..)
First up, egg custard tarts from week 4. This was the technical challenge based on Paul Hollywood’s recipe, luckily for me, I was able to follow the entire recipe unlike the bakers in the tent! BBC Food have put up the recipe and instructions here.
