21st Birthday Cupcakes

So it’s been a while since I last posted and it’s because I have resumed my University studies, so it’s been a bit hectic (plus I’ve been lazy) so apologies for the lack of new posts recently.

Moose Cakes

My friend Kylie celebrated her birthday this past week, and she loves mooses (moose/meese?!) so I decided to make her some moose cupcakes. I got the idea from a book I got for my birthday, What’s New, Cupcake? which is brilliant for novelty cupcakes. The only downside is that it is VERY american – so a lot of the things they use, we can’t really buy over here for a good price and finding alternatives isn’t always easy. Fenny Poppers Festival

A few Sunday’s ago, I had a stall set up at the Fenny Poppers festival – it was lucky that the sun came out and the rain stayed away!

I made about 400 cupcakes in preparation for the event, in the two days running up to it. I spent Friday baking all the bases (vanilla, chocolate, lemon, carrot cake and chocolate orange) and all Saturday making the frosting and decorating the cupcakes. This time, I branched out and introduced a couple of new flavours – Strawberry Trifle (with a real strawberry on top), Chocolate Orange, Oreo and Carrot Cake.
